Deciding upon the correct custom build engagement ring can be really hard, although in the beginning people say, lets get a custom build ring for this special occasion, this way I will mark the engagement with color all my own and save some money behind the back. What actually happens is they decide upon the metal and the setting of the ring but when the time comes for them to decide upon the inset stone, they get confused.
This confusion often leads them to rethink their ring resulting in an engagement ring much more expensive than they planned. Now for all those who do not want that to happen, here is one pointer no one else will tell you so easily. Try to make your mind up by writing things down. When you write down something, you not just think something, but you think about something so much, you say, I do not need to further rethink the matter, so just so I do not forget, let us write it down.
Now back to the engagement ring, I mentioned the decisiveness of writing things down because people often leave a lot of wriggling space when they are deciding upon the price of the ring.
What happens is that people decide that they will spend somewhere around XX amount of money, of that they will spend Y on the ring, and Z on the stone. But when they go to the jeweler, they are faced by stones which are obviously more expensive than they thought, they end up buying the expensive ones and the price for their ring goes out of the roof.
What should happen is that you write down the overall cost you want to spend upon the ring, do not leave space for negotiation. Now write down what you want to spend for the ring out of that and then what you want to spend on the stone. Take this sticky note to the jeweler with you and tell him exactly how much you wish t spend on your ring and its components. You will find that once you are decided upon the costs and that certain preference in your stone, your final price will be within your budget.
